Master's degree programs
Postdoctoral
The postdoctoral master's degree in clinical and translational science is for Mayo Clinic physicians, scientists and other staff who have already earned doctoral degrees. The program is designed to be completed in about two years. It includes coursework and a mentored research experience. It culminates in a published thesis.
Professional
The Professional Master's Degree Program in clinical and translational science is ideal for Mayo Clinic employees who seek to advance their careers in clinical and translational research without the necessity of conducting a thesis or independent research. Time to completion can vary by student, but all requirements must be completed within five years.
M.D.-M.S.
The M.D.-M.S. Program in clinical and translational science enables medical students enrolled in Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine or the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine to earn a master's degree in addition to their medical degree. Students must complete all master's degree requirements by the end of medical school, though all didactic coursework and the written qualifying exam are required to be completed within the first year of the program. Students are required to take one year out of medical school to complete the program's didactic requirements.
