About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the immediate effect of cardioversion on both the tricuspid and mitral annular dynamics and size in patients with atrial fibrillation, and to compare the annular dynamics and dimensions in both the tricuspid and mitral valves immediately before and after cardioversion in patients with atrial fibrillation using 3D transesophageal echocardiography.

During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. In the later phase (phase 3), researchers study whether the treatment works better than the current standard therapy. They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

The primary purpose of the study is to assess how well amivantamab subcutaneous (SC) administration in combination with lazertinib or in combination with chemotherapy works (antitumor activity) in participants with epidermal growth factor receptor mutated (EGFRm) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC; that is one of the major types of lung cancer).

About this study

The purpose of this study is to better understand the mechanisms by which people retain control of their bowel contents and evacuate stool (defecation) and why people have constipation or fecal incontinence (involuntary stool leakage). Pressure measurements (by manometry) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are widely used for diagnosis in patients with constipation or fecal incontinence. This study is trying to improve the utility of these tests for diagnosing these problems and to understand if pressure measurements (by manometry) can be related to strength of the anal sphincter measured by MRI. To do this, we will study the effects of alfuzosin on these muscles.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to find out if we can use ultrasound to identify people with breathing problems from their vocal cords. Ultrasound machines use sound waves to see inside your body. In this case, we will be looking at the vocal cords in your neck. If we can use ultrasound to see this problem, then we won’t need to use a camera inside of a person’s throat to diagnose this problem.

About this study

We are doing this study to compare how acute maximal and acute endurance exercise affect immune cell populations in the blood for different populations of healthy participants (comparing age, gender, fitness level, etc). We hope to use this information to develop a baseline understanding of how exercise affects immune system function.

The investigators would like to determine if early administration of oral Midodrine in participants diagnosed with sepsis will impact blood pressures and decrease the need for and/or doses of intravenous pressor agents.
