Understand the natural history of cardiac sarcoidosis through evaluation of outcomes of patients in the registry

Evaluate outcomes of patients both treated and untreated with cardiac sarcoidosis
Understand the complications of untreated and treated cardiac sarcoidosis

During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. In the later phase (phase 3), researchers study whether the treatment works better than the current standard therapy. They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

The purpose of the study is to determine whether voice recordings acquired from patient-owned Android and Apple (iOS) smartphones can be used to monitor cardiovascular health. Voice signals will be processed to determine whether we can detect presence of cardiovascular disease and wellness, or if health risks exist. Electrocardiograms (ECGs) will be collected from those who choose to share and have an Apple Watch version 4 or greater with ECG capability, not SE. iOS users will have the option to submit activity data, clinical data, and sensor usage (ex: movement, ambient light sensors, optical and electrical data collected for heart rate detection and ECG). Your health, and wellness will be followed for up to 5- years or longer if you choose to remain in the study.

The Mayo Clinic CV Research study app will transmit your voice/speech data, Health app data, and Apple Watch ECGs collected as part of this research in a secure manner from your iOS smartphone and Apple Watch to Mayo Clinic. Android users at this time will only be able to transmit voice/speech data. Your data will be stored in a secure research database. Your speech sample will not be part of your medical record. If you decide to send ECGs recorded with your Apple watch version 4 or greater, your provider can review your ECGs in the Cardiology tab under AI-ECG Dashboard in your Mayo Clinic medical record, although you will need to notify your care provider of participation.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to record brain activity using MEG that is not ordered as a part of clinical care in a variety of patients and healthy volunteers to understand baseline and task-induced brain signals in different conditions. MEG is a non-invasive neuroimaging technique that records the magnetic fields produced by neural activity. The MEG machine is completely passive, does not emit any electromagnetic activity, and does not have any known health related risks. The study aims to:

Establish baseline MEG data across different age groups and medical conditions.
Explore task-induced brain activity under different cognitive and sensory conditions, especially language function.
Investigate brain patterns in both healthy individuals and patients with neurological or psychiatric disorders. The MEG is not part of clinical care for these participants.
Compare MEG results with the low-risk non-invasive approaches of functional MRI (fMRI) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), which are both widely used for cortical mapping of pediatric and adult patients, including at Mayo Clinic.

About this study

The purpose of this research study is to identify biomarkers at baseline and determine if the Oura Ring can optimize adrenal insufficiency management by tracking symptoms and predicting periods of illness. The data will be obtained from two groups: patients diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and patients without adrenal insufficiency (control group).
