Study of Efficacy and Safety of Ligelizumab in Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria Patients Who Completed a Previous Study With Ligelizumab

During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. In the later phase (phase 3), researchers study whether the treatment works better than the current standard therapy. They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to establish effectiveness and safety of ligelizumab. This will be assessed in patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) who have completed a preceding ligelizumab study and have relapsed, following treatment in these preceding studies, despite standard of care H1-antihistamine (H1-AH) treatment. For this curreent study only adults will be enrolled, as no adolescents were enrolled in the previous study (CQGE031C2303). In a subset of subjects, the safety and efficacy of ligelizumab monotherapy will be assessed. This study will also fulfill the Novartis commitment to provide post-trial access to patients who have completed studies CQGE031C2302, CGQE031C2303, CQGE031C2202 or CQGE031C1301.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well veliparib, radiation therapy, and temozolomide work in treating participants with newly diagnosed malignant glioma without H3 K27M or BRAFV600E mutations. Veliparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving veliparib, radiation therapy, and temozolomide may work better in treating participants with newly diagnosed malignant glioma without H3 K27M or BRAFV600E mutations.

About this study

We are testing this hypothesis through three phases for which we have developed three protocols. In this phase, with this protocol, we have two primary aims.

Aim 1: To assess acceptability and gather input on the design and content of an as-of-yet undistributed reminder-recall to parents of children 11-12 years of age due for an HPV dose that emphasized the pain-reducing measures and the nurse visits

Aim 2: To evaluate the process of distributing the reminder-recalls to parents of children 11-12 years of age due for an HPV dose that emphasized the pain-reducing measures and the nurse visits

About this study

This randomized phase III trial studies brentuximab vedotin and combination chemotherapy to see how well they work compared to combination chemotherapy alone in treating younger patients with newly diagnosed Hodgkin lymphoma. Combinations of biological substances in brentuximab vedotin may be able to carry cancer-killing substances directly to Hodgkin lymphoma cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as doxorubicin hydrochloride, bleomycin sulfate, vincristine sulfate, etoposide, prednisone, and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known if combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without brentuximab vedotin in treating Hodgkin lymphoma.

About this study

The overall goal of this investigator-initiated trial is to evaluate the impact of platform algorithm products designed to rapidly identify pharmacokinetic (PK) and/or pharmacodynamic (PD) genomic variation on treatment outcome of depression in adolescents. This new technology may have the potential to optimize treatment selection by improving response, minimizing unfavorable adverse events / side effects and increasing treatment adherence

About this study

This research proposal aims to better understand the neurobiology of depression in adolescents and how repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) may therapeutically impact brain function and mood. This investigation also proposes the first study to examine the efficacy of rTMS maintenance therapy in adolescents who have met clinical criteria following acute rTMS treatment. The magnetic resonance (MR) spectroscopy pattern of rTMS response will be analyzed according to previously established protocols.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to offer ovarian tissue cryopreservation to female pediatric patients (birth-17 years of age) with fertility threatening medical diagnoses or facing surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy that may cause loss of reproductive potential. Since this procedure is currently considered experimental, the establishment of an IRB protocol under which this opportunity can be offered is needed.

About this study

Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that children (6-18 years) and adults (≥19 years old) with chronic lung condition such as asthma or cigarette smoking be vaccinated with Pneumococcal vaccine (PPSV23). The purpose of this study is to increase awareness of vaccination to late adolescents with asthma and smokers (social aspect of study), and to recommend vaccination (which is the clinical aspect). Individuals who agree to receiving vaccine will be enrolled in research to determine whether late adolescents with and without asthma (smokers) have distinctive pneumococcal vaccine response patterns and whether such patterns are associated with subsequent variance in asthma outcomes.

About this study

The current clinical guidelines for management of atopic dermatitis now recommend bleach baths. This requires simply the addition of regular household bleach to twice-weekly baths. At the Mayo Clinic, dilute acetic acid (vinegar) has been recommended for decades in wet wraps to treat patients hospitalized for their atopic dermatitis. However, this practice has not been widely adopted in the pediatric dermatology community. Will the use of dilute acetic acid (vinegar) in twice weekly baths help manage atopic dermatitis in pediatric patients as well as, or better than, the current accepted guidelines?
