Overview

Mayo Clinic's Department of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics includes clinical and research faculty and operational staff who drive discovery and innovation through artificial intelligence (AI) and informatics research to enhance healthcare.

The department promotes collaborative research to advance the methods, applications and infrastructure in digital medicine, emphasizing the synergy of people, processes and technology. Staff in the department come from multiple disciplines representing biomedical, computational and social sciences.

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics seeks to:

• Facilitate the adoption of AI technologies and develop best-in-class AI education, training, research and translational programs that deliver real return on investment.
• Make access to cutting-edge informatics and AI technology a standard practice.
• Increase visibility to expertise in the areas of AI and informatics.
• Strengthen AI capabilities to provide new and impactful insights into health and disease and applied informatics capabilities to translate discoveries into the practice.
• Facilitate the recruitment, orientation, ongoing performance expectations and retention of research faculty in AI.
• Provide a primary and secondary academic home supporting shared infrastructure, knowledge diffusion and professional development.
• Offer graduate education.
• Increase academic and industry partnerships in AI.
