Petri dish with growing medium in a core lab. Reprogramming

The core uses an application that produces potentially unlimited sources of cells and tissues. Production of reprogrammed human induced pluripotent stem cells will open many avenues for researchers to explore.

Reprogramming

Reprogramming services that the core provides include:

  • Induced pluripotent stem cell production by CytoTune-iPS 2.0 Sendai virus reprogramming of fibroblasts and peripheral blood mononuclear cells. The core uses the CytoTune-iPS 2.0 Sendai virus-based reprogramming system to efficiently generate human induced pluripotent stem cells from dermal fibroblasts and peripheral blood mononuclear cells. This method ensures a robust reprogramming process that maintains the pluripotency of the cells, offering a reliable source of induced pluripotent stem cells for a variety of research applications.
  • Skin fibroblasts derived from dermal skin punch for isolation, expansion, cryopreservation and reprogramming into induced pluripotent stem cells. Skin fibroblasts are isolated from a dermal skin punch biopsy, a minimally invasive procedure that provides a rich source of cells. Then these fibroblasts are expanded in culture, cryopreserved for long-term storage and subsequently reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem cells. This process ensures that a diverse collection of cell lines is available for reprogramming into induced pluripotent stem cells, providing researchers with flexible and scalable options.
  • Plans to build a bank of reprogrammed induced pluripotent stem cells for client access. The core is working to establish a comprehensive biobank of reprogrammed induced pluripotent stem cells, allowing researchers to easily access already existing aliquots for their own studies. This biobank will be a valuable resource for clients, reducing the time and effort required to generate new induced pluripotent stem cells and supporting a wide range of research initiatives. Clients will be able to request specific cell lines or access a broad selection of preexisting induced pluripotent stem cells for various experimental needs.
