Allied health careers
The Biostatistics Core has allied health career opportunities for candidates with bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. There are two primary allied health job categories in the Biostatistics Core.
Statistical programmer
Statistical programmers play a key role in data management and analysis. They apply their expertise in programming and statistical software such as SAS and R. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and effectively communicating results.
Qualifications include:
- A bachelor's degree in statistics or another quantitative science.
- Experience and coursework in applied statistics.
At least one object-oriented programming class is desired.
Biostatistician
Biostatisticians at Mayo Clinic are statistical consultants and project coordinators, leveraging statistical, computational and scientific expertise to contribute to research, clinical and administrative studies. They play an integral role in study design, implementation, analysis, interpretation and reporting.
Qualifications include:
- A graduate degree in statistics, biostatistics, applied statistics, data science, mathematics or a related field.
- Experience with computer programming and familiarity with statistical software such as SAS, R and interpretable machine learning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Prior consulting and project management experience is preferred.
