Clinical Trials

The purpose of this study is to examine test-retest reliability of measurements obtained with cross recurrence quantification analysis with respect to (A) dynamic hip-knee motion coupling patterns and (B) gluteus maximus-gluteus medius EMG recruitment coupling patterns during single-limb step-downs.

The aim of this study is to determine whether EMG monitoring in the operating room reduces the incidence of postoperative residual blockade (measured at the time of tracheal extubation and on arrival to the PACU).

The purpose of this study is to determine if the near-infrared spectroscopy  (NIRS) and electromyography (EMG) signal during isometric handgrip exercise is reproducible within subjects (for the same and different limbs) and between subjects.

The primary aim of this clinical investigation is to examine a prototype of a quantitative monitoring instrument that will meet most, if not all, of the clinical requirements.

The purpose of this study is to

1. To develop a database of normal values for muscle thickness and echo-intensity in American children and adults.

2. To determine the sensitivity and specificity of muscle ultrasound in diagnosing neuromuscular disease in pediatric patients referred for EMG testing at the Mayo Clinic.

The purpose of this study is to assess the onset of neuromuscular blockade and recovery profiles of aminosteroidal neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) after sugammadex at the flexor hallucis brevis (great toe) and adductor pollicis (thumb) muscles.

The purpose of this study is to get performance data on the TetraGraph, to see if it is an easy-to-use and accurate quantitative neuromuscular monitor, by testing it on normal volunteer adults.

The primary aim of this study is to evaluate accuracy and precision of simultaneous acceleromyograph and electromyograph in unparalyzed patients.

The purpose of this study is to correlate the objective electromyography (EMG)-derived data (TOFR, TOFC, PTC) with subjective (blinded) evaluation of responses using the TetraGraph.

The primary purpose of this study is to establish a proof of concept that electrical stimulation within the operative field can attenuate corpus cavernosum electromyography (CC EMG) activity.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether three-dimensional motion capture technology and dynamic electromyography (EMG), when used to study attack moves in fencers, reveal patterns of upper extremity motion that may correlate with the development of clinically relevant pathology.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety & feasibility of using seizure forecasts based on subscalp EEG.

Physical therapists, personal trainers, and strength and conditioning specialists spend substantial time teaching clients how to strengthen their core. Core muscles provide a stable base for limb movement. Little research has been done looking at specific core and extremity muscle activation with variations of push-up exercises, specifically using the TRX© suspension system.

The purpose of this study is to collect kinematic and electromyographic (EMG) data from ten high-level tennis athletes for the creation of a normative database.

The purpose of this study is to investigate motor unit recruitment during  isometric contractions in human muscles.

The first purpose is to investigate the effect of pedal rate during submaximal exercise activation of locomotor muscle afferents on ventilation, gas exchange, blood pressure, and cardiac hemodynamic responses in healthy individuals compared with HF patients. We will determine the influence of pedal rate on ventilation, gas exchange, blood pressure, and cardiac hemodynamic responses on activation of group III and IV locomotor muscle afferents using a novel application and integration of two separate but related scientific questions to better understand peripheral mechanisms of exercise tolerance in humans. The second purpose is to investigate whether pedal rates during exercise with activation ...

The purpose of this study is to collect preliminary data related to the clinical utility of the SPEAC System in patients with a history of motor seizures.

The purpose of this study is to examine if there is a difference in muscle activity in two different techniques of performing a lunge exercise.

The primary objective of this study is to determine if the commencement of BIS monitoring relative to the administration of muscle relaxants has any effect on BIS values. The current study is a continuation of the project: “Bispectral Index: A Comparison of Bifrontal Montage Agreement” by Dr. Matthew Ritter and Wade Kreun, SRNA which validated the concurrent bifrontal use of BIS sensors. BIS monitors are FDA approved to assess the depth of sedation by analyzing segments of electroencephalogram (EEG) waves. They consist of a sensor, a digital signal converter, and a monitor. A BIS score is not a physiologic measurement, ...

The purpose of this study is sEMG to detect activation of swallow initiation.

The purpose of this study is to determine the benefit to postoperative facial nerve function of using electromyography (EMG) based monitoring of facial nerve function during surgery to remove the parotid gland for superficial benign lesions.

The purpose of this study is to compare the mean cumulative weight-based/time-corrected rocuronium dose administered in patients undergoing robotic- or laparoscopic- assisted surgery using either acceleromyography or electromyography.

The purpose of this study is to determine measurement difference and variability of bispectral index (BIS) values when monitored in a bilateral frontal montage.

Taking in-clinic measures of elbow flexor electromyography from individuals who have had surgical brachial plexus reconstruction to aid in the design of a future upper extremity assistive orthosis.

The purpose of this study is to measure the electromyographic (EMG) activity in adults who have been affected by a brachial plexus injury. Results from this study will aid in the design of assistive upper extremity orthotic devices.
