About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of escalating intratumoral doses of mRNA-2752 in participants with relapsed/refractory solid tumor malignancies or lymphoma.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the most efficient and safest dexamethasone dose given intraoperatively during total knee arthroplasty that reduces postoperative opioid consumption and pain, improves postoperative nausea and vomiting, and minimizes postoperative complications.

About this study

The purposed of this study are to investigate whether structured exercise training improves cardiac and pulmonary haemodynamic function, exercise capacity, and short-term clinical outcomes in heart failure (HF) patients with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH), and to develop a multivariable exercise pulmonary gas exchange ‘score’ that accurately differentiates HF patients with pre- and post-capillary PH (CpcPH) from HF patients with isolated post-capillary PH (IpcPH).

About this study

The goals of this continuation of MeTeOR are to determine: a) whether the greater structural damage observed at five years in subjects treated with APM persists over 12 years; and b) whether structural changes observed in the first five years are associated with worse pain and function and greater TKR utilization at 12 years. We propose the following aims:

Conduct a 12-year follow-up visit of MeTeOR subjects to characterize the extent of cartilage damage over 12 years and identify factors associated with OA progression. MeTeOR participants will complete questionnaires and performance tests and undergo MRI and radiographs 12 years after randomization. Our analyses of cartilage damage will account for clinical and demographic features at baseline and prognostically salient events occurring over follow-up. We hypothesize that subjects with greater baseline levels of cartilage damage and those treated with APM will experience greater cartilage damage over 12 years.
Assess whether the extent of structural progression over the first five years post-treatment in persons with OA and meniscal tear predicts worse clinical outcomes at 12 years. We hypothesize that more rapid progression over the initial five years will be predictive of greater pain, worse functional status, worse performance test results, and higher use of TKR at 12 years, independent of clinical and demographic features ascertained over the first five years. We will also assess the extent of progression in cartilage damage that is predictive of a clinically meaningful difference in KOOS Pain scores.

The investigators seek to understand how reflexes from the breathing muscles influence blood pressure during exercise. Furthermore, the investigators are determining if increasing breathing muscle strength (via inspiratory muscle training) influences the respiratory muscle contribution to blood pressure during exercise.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare the difference in the ability to detect hemodynamic abnormalities between invasive hemodynamic assessments performed at rest versus exercise, to assess the correlation between invasive and noninvasive (Doppler-derived) rest-exercise hemodynamic indices and to compare the association between indices of disease severity and hemodynamic abnormalities identified at rest versus exercise.

About this study

In the southwest region of Alaska where the project takes place, 79% of Alaska Native women smoke cigarettes or use smokeless tobacco (ST) during pregnancy. In addition, pregnancy appears to be a high risk period for initiation of tobacco use, primarily ST, among women reporting no use of tobacco 3 months before pregnancy. Intervention efforts targeting the entire community, not only pregnant women, to address social norms about tobacco use may be effective. Thus, the investigators will evaluate the efficacy of a novel, multi-component, theory-based intervention for reducing tobacco use during pregnancy, incorporating both individually targeted and community level components delivered by female elders "Native Sisters." The intervention builds on effective community and individual-based approaches for tobacco cessation and lay health advisor approaches for cancer prevention among Native American women. As part of the intervention, a social marketing campaign including digital stories and other small media will be developed with community feedback. Individually targeted components will be six 30-40 minute telephone or home-based peer counseling sessions with pregnant women.

About this study

Obesity is associated with reduced adenosine triphosphate (ATP) turnover in skeletal muscle, a condition that can impair muscle metabolism. The proposed research will discover mechanisms responsible for decreased content in mitochondrial proteins as well as in protein β-F1-ATPase, which is directly responsible for ATP assembly, in the muscle of obese individuals. This research will further examine the effectiveness of interventions, such as increased plasma amino acid availability and exercise, to increase the rate of production of mitochondrial proteins as well as that of β-F1-ATPase in the muscle of obese individuals. The findings will help to develop appropriate interventions to improve muscle ATP turnover and metabolism in obese people.
