About this study

This study will look at how a new investigational software program, called the Endovantage Interventional Suite (EVIS), can help your doctor better plan surgeries like yours through computer simulation. The software allows your doctor to see how the chosen medical device(s) will perform when it is placed in the blood vessel in your brain. We hope to determine if the computer simulation is realistic and indeed accurately shows your doctor exactly what happened at the time of surgery. If the computer simulation is an accurate reflection of the actual surgery, then the software could help your doctor take better care of future patients with brain aneurysms through improved planning before surgery is performed.

Study phase:

During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. In the later phase (phase 3), researchers study whether the treatment works better than the current standard therapy. They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the overall rate of response of brain metastases in subjects with central nervous system (CNS) metastases due to metastatic melanoma with a BRAF V600 mutation who have relapsed or progressed from initial or systemic disease.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare how well single fraction stereotactic radiosurgery works versus fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery in treating patients with cancer that has spread to the brain from other parts of the body and has been removed by surgery. Single fraction stereotactic radiosurgery is a specialized radiation therapy that delivers a single, high dose of radiation directly to the tumor and may cause less damage to normal tissue. Fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery delivers multiple, smaller doses of radiation therapy over time.

About this study

The overall objective of this Phase III clinical trial is to obtain information from a population of 500 ICH subjects with intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), representative of current clinical practice and national demographics of ICH regarding the benefit (or lack thereof) of IVH clot removal on subject function as measured by modified Rankin Scale (mRS). This application requests funding for five years to initiate a Phase III randomized clinical trial (RCT) testing the benefit of clot removal for intraventricular hemorrhage. The investigators propose to compare extraventricular drainage (EVD) use plus recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA; Alteplase; Genentech, Inc., San Francisco, CA and Boehringer Ingelheim, Inc., Ingelheim, Germany) with EVD+ placebo in the management and treatment of subjects with small intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and large intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH defined as ICH < 30 cc and obstruction of the 3rd or 4th ventricles by intraventricular blood clot).
