A Study Of GTC Or Berberine Supplementation And Incidence Of T2D In Individuals With Prediabetes

Study phase:
0
During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. In the later phase (phase 3), researchers study whether the treatment works better than the current standard therapy. They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to conduct a 2-arm feasibility trial of oral green tea catechins (GTC) supplement 500 mg daily or berberine 500 mg twice daily for 90 days on reducing hemoglobin A1c, fasting blood glucose, and fasting blood insulin in individuals with prediabetes.

About this study

The study is designed as an open-label, randomized, parallel, two arm, multicenter, international Phase 3 study in patients with recurrent or metastatic breast cancer previously treated with cytotoxic chemotherapy regimens.

The primary study objective is to compare overall survival of patients who receive NKTR-102 given once every 21 days to patients who receive treatment of Physician's Choice selected from a list of seven single-agent intravenous therapies.

About this study

This open-label phase II trial tests how well TPST-1495 works in reducing the number of polyps in the small bowel and colon in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). FAP is an inherited condition in which numerous polyps (growths that protrude from mucous membranes) form on the inside walls of the colon and rectum. It increases the risk for colon cancer. TPST-1495 binds to specific prostaglandin receptors. TPST-1495 is a dual antagonist of the prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) receptor subtypes EP2 and EP4, while sparing the immune-stimulating EP1 and EP3 receptors. TPST-1495 may help reduce the number of polyps in the small bowel and colon in patients with FAP.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the RNS® System for thalamic stimulation is safe and effective as an adjunctive therapy for the reduction of primary generalized seizures in individuals 12 years of age or older who have drug-resistant idiopathic generalized epilepsy.

About this study

To compare two methods of post-operative pain management in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. There is a perception that the periarticular injections may not be as effective in controlling post-operative pain.

Both methods are current standard of care. The investigators want to compare the outcomes of each when patients are randomized to one of the methods compared to the other method of post-operative pain control.
