About this study

The primary hypothesis is that patients with HFREF (heart failure with reduced ejection fraction) will demonstrate a markedly expanded intravascular volume which will correlate with elevated right heart hemodynamics and increased venous capacitance parameters, whereas patients with HFPEF(heart failure with preserved ejection fraction) will demonstrate euvolemia to mild volume expansion and a lack of correlation with hemodynamic and venous compliance parameters.

About this study

This investigation constitutes an initial evaluation of the stoma occlusion device in humans with a mature permanent Brooke ileostomy. The overall objective of this study is to assess feasibility and initial operating characteristics of a novel stoma occlusion device. The study will recruit 20 patients for placement of the device into the mature Brooke ileostomy and subsequent 2 hour observation period. The device will remain in the ileostomy for up to 2 hours.

About this study

The purpose of the clinical study is to obtain clinical data on the CardioMech Mitral Valve Repair System (MVRS) in patients diagnosed with moderate to severe (≥ 3+) or severe (≥ 4+), symptomatic, degenerative mitral regurgitation with prolapse or flail of the P2 leaflet segment, and who are determined to be at intermediate or high-risk for mitral valve surgical repair, as assessed by the multi-disciplinary heart team.

Study phase:

During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. In the later phase (phase 3), researchers study whether the treatment works better than the current standard therapy. They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

Dabrafenib is a potent and selective inhibitor of BRAF kinase activity. This is a Phase II, non-randomized, open-label study to assess the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of dabrafenib administered as a single agent and in combination with trametinib in stage IV disease to subjects with BRAF mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Subjects will receive dabrafenib 150 mg twice daily (BID) in monotherapy treatment and dabrafenib 150 mg bid and trametinib 2 mg once daily in combination therapy and continue on treatment until disease progression, death, or unacceptable adverse event.

This study is being done to see how a subcutaneous (SQ or subcu) injection of a new natriuretic peptide, or hormone, called MANP affects your blood pressure, the glucose and lipids levels and other peptide (hormone) levels in your blood.
