AKI Prevention and Early Intervention in Patients Undergoing VAD Placement
Rochester, MN
The investigators are doing this research to find out if more careful assessment and elimination of potential risk factors of acute kidney injury (AKI) during the subject's perioperative period will reduce their chance of kidney damage and kidney damage related problems.

A Study for Prevention, Early Detection and Intervention in Acute Kidney Injury Related to Post-Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery (CABG)
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to see if Nephrology participation in the care of patients undergoing CABG (coronary artery bipass grafting) could reduce the incidence of acute kidney injury through correction of modifiable risk factors, early detection and interventions post-operatively.

PRevention of Acute Kidney Injury Initiated with Electronic Surveillance Enhancement
Rochester, MN
This is to define and validate an electronic surveillance tool to be able to detect acute kidney injury (AKI) automatically and alarm the clinicians when patients make the acute kidney injury criteria (defined by acute kidney injury network). Our hypothesis is that this tool (AKI sniffer) is able to detect AKI before the clinicians and also earlier intervention (applying AKI prevention bunmdle) triggered by sniffer can improve patient outcome.

Assessment of ProEnkephalin to Detect Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in Patients Hospitalized for Volume Overload Decompensated Chronic Heart Failure
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the baseline presence of plasma levels of biomarkers of renal injury and changes in these biomarkers during the course of in-hospital intravenous diuretic therapy can predict when threshold values that would indicate a clinically significant change in renal function that would warrant a change in diuretic therapy to occur.

A Study to Explore the Renal Safety of Visipaque Injection 320 mgI/mL in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease
Rochester, MN
This parallel-group, randomized, placebo-controlled study will examine the incidence and severity of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage III/IV following an i.v. injection of iso-osmolar iodinated contrast material iodixanol (Visipaque™ Injection 320 mgI/mL), as compared with patients who received saline and underwent a non-enhanced CT (NECT) and duplex ultrasound (US) during their scheduled post-EVAR surveillance imaging.

Safety and Efficacy of ANX-042 in Human Cardiorenal Syndrome
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to look at kidney function and hormonal function in patients with a history of heart failure and kidney dysfunction, and to see how the use of a new drug, ANX-042, affects those functions.
-
Analysis of Biomarkers in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to develop a better blood test to diagnose early kidney injury in type 1 diabetes.
-
A Study to Promote Shared Decision Making of Treatment Choices in Patients who have Advanced Kidney Disease
Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ; Jacksonville, FL; Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to develop educational materials that will help patients and clinicians talk about treatment options for patients with advanced kidney disease.
-
A Study of Obinutuzumab to Evaluate the Safety and Tolerability in Hypersensitized Adult Participants with End Stage Renal Disease Awaiting Transplantation
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study of obinutuzumab administered as intravenous (IV) infusion in adults with end stage renal disease is to assess the safety and tolerability of the regimen at week 24 of the desensitization phase and at week 28 post kidney transplantation. All participants will be monitored for a minimum of 12 months following the last obinutuzumab infusion.

COVID-19 and Acute Renal Failure
Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ; Rochester, MN; Jacksonville, FL
The primary purpose of this study is to examine 1-year survival and rate of secondary infections in COVID-19 patients with and without acute kidney injury (AKI).
