A Study Of Glomerular Filtration Rate Tracer Agent Relmapirazin (MB-102)

About this study

The purpose of this study is to asess agreement and accuracy between transdermal GFR (tGFR) measured with the MB-102/MediBeacon tGFR system and reference GFR measured by iothalamate plasma clearance in the renal lab in patients with known normal kidney function, chronic kidney disease, or those without known kidney disease status.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age ≥ 18 years

  • Patients weighing >40 kilograms

  • Admitted to ICU OR scheduled for cardiac or major non-cardiac surgeries/ACS-PCI with inpatient monitoring and anticipated stay ≥24 hours.

  • Baseline GFR ≥15 ml/min/1.73 m2

  • Able to provide informed consent

  • Adequate venous access for tracer injection

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Current AKI, or those on RRT (CRRT, IHD) or planned initiation of RRT within 24 hours of enrollment

  • Anuric patients

  • Known allergy to Iothalamate or previous severe contrast reaction

  • Known pregnancy or lactation

  • Severe skin conditions at the sensor site (extensive burns, tattoos, and adhesives allergy)
