The Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Patient Registry Core provides professional expertise in biostatistics and bioinformatics for all Breast Cancer SPORE research projects.
Areas of support include:
- Development of experimental designs
- Data collection
- Data management support
- Data quality assurance
- Database construction and maintenance
- Statistical and bioinformatics analysis
- Interpretation of findings
- Collaboration on presentation and study results
- Oversight of the development, population and maintenance of the Breast Cancer Patient Registry
Members of the Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Patient Registry Core also collaborate with other Mayo Clinic staff on an enterprise-wide initiative to develop a virtual data warehouse that integrates elements of Mayo Clinic resources, including:
- Electronic medical records
- Surgical index
- Pathology index
- Tumor registry
- Tissue registry
- Cancer Center database
- Orders
- Resource utilization database
This collaborative effort is intended to support identification of patient cohorts for Breast Cancer SPORE projects and to electronically populate elements into the Breast Cancer Patient Registry.
