Projects List

  1. CYP2D6: A clinical challenge and model for genomic copy number variation
A cohort of 1000 samples are being studied in a search for heretofore undetected genomic variability in the CYP2D6 gene and surrounding structures. Data from this will be used to design a more robust CYP2D6 genotyping test.
  2. Correlation of CYP2C19*17 genotype and treatment response in STAR*D samples
Our group has previously demonstrated the detrimental effect of low blood pressure and BP variability on acute ischemic stroke (AIS) outcome. We are now designing a phase II trial to test whether pharmacologic elevation of BP reduces stroke burden.
  3. Correlation of CYP2D6 duplication with treatment response in STAR*D samples
Samples from patients enrolled in the STAR*D research protocol are being analyzed to determine the effect that CYP2D6 genotype has on their response to citalopram.
  4. Genetic determinants of suicidal behavior
Two hundred patients with depression and serious suicidal behaviors are compared to 200 controls with depression without suicidal behaviors in the analysis of several genes which have been showed to be associated with suicide in other studies.
  5. Autoimmune determinants of Gut Dysmotility
This study is to determine the autoimmune determinants of autoimmune GI motility disturbances.
  6. Effect of CYP2C19*17 genotype on breast cancer response to tamoxifenSamples from patients receiving tamoxifen therapy for breast cancer are being analyzed to determine the effect that CYP2C19*17 on outcomes.
  7. Effect of CYP2B6 genotype on outcomes in patients receiving cyclophosphamide before bone marrow transplantation
Samples from patients receiving cyclophosphamide prior to bone marrow transplantation for leukemia are being studied determine the effect that CYP2B6 genotype on outcomes.
