Research in Dr. Wszolek's lab at Mayo Clinic is discovering new ways to fight the onslaught of neuromuscular disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, by discovering the genetic and environmental factors to develop new therapeutics to combat these diseases.
The Parkinson's Disease, Clinical Genetics and Movement Disorders Lab studies how genetic factors contribute to disease with a goal of developing therapies for particular genetic defects that cause Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders.
Dr. Wszolek's research activities include a focus on genetics and environmental risk factors of Parkinson's disease and clinical, radiological and pathological studies of cases with known gene mutations for Parkinson's disease and related disorders.
Mayo Clinic offers a wide variety of clinical trials in all phases for many types of movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease.
Neurologists, neurophysiologists and other experts in movement disorders at all three of Mayo Clinic's campuses treat virtually every condition that causes voluntary or involuntary abnormal increased movements in adults and children.
Contact Dr. Wszolek about his research or for information about training opportunities in his Parkinson's Disease, Clinical Genetics and Movement Disorders Lab.
