Ambient Intelligence for Intensive Care Units
The intensive care unit can be viewed as a complex adaptive system. There is significant interplay among clinicians, health information technology and other acute care system components (patients, tasks, environments and more).
Toward a goal of enhancing health information technology and improving patient outcomes, patient safety and acute care delivery efficiency, this project in the laboratory of Vitaly Herasevich, M.D., Ph.D., and Brian W. Pickering, M.B., B.Ch., aims to better understand how individual components of acute care systems interact with different health information technology elements.
