Dr. Huang's lab studies how genetic and epigenetic alterations transform healthy epithelial cells into prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia and progress into invasive cancer and metastases. Using the prostate gland and prostatic epithelial cells as working models, the lab uses mouse genetic, molecular biology and bioinformatic approaches to identify novel genetic and epigenetic targets for cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
The Cancer Epigenetics and Functional Genomics Lab of Haojie Huang, Ph.D., at Mayo Clinic focuses on how genetic and epigenetic changes and changes to gene expression contribute to the development and progression of cancer.
The lab studies how factors such as tumor suppressors, androgen receptor, inflammation, gene transcription, chromatin structure and more interact to promote or impede the growth of prostate cancer.
Dr. Huang has published extensive research on cancer tumorigenesis, progression and metastasis; castration-resistant prostate cancer; genetic and epigenetic alterations in cancer; and more.
