Welcome to the first issue of the new quarterly email companion to Forefront, the annual magazine of Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. You can count on Forefront to highlight the latest cancer research under way at Mayo Clinic.

The statistics are well known — 1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men in the U.S. will develop cancer in their lifetimes, and cancer will be responsible for a quarter of all deaths. These are sobering numbers, but they do not apply to a monolithic enemy. They apply to a family of diseases with immense diversity and complexity. That is why the work we do at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center locations in Minnesota, Florida and Arizona is so important.

Every day our researchers and practitioners study disease and develop and test preventive and therapeutic strategies that provide hope and healing to cancer patients and their families. We do this in collaboration with colleagues in our organization and at other leading institutions around the world.

Solving pieces of this complex cancer puzzle is our passion. I invite you to follow our journey by subscribing to Forefront.
