SUMMARY

The research of Sujay A. Vora, M.D., centers on gynecologic malignancies and cancers of the central nervous system. Throughout his career, Dr. Vora has focused on lower grade and high-grade glioma; benign tumors such as acoustic neuroma, meningioma and pituitary adenoma; and metastatic disease. Dr. Vora explores new technologies, including proton beam therapy, proton beam radiosurgery and photon radiosurgery, with an emphasis on treatment options that enhance patient survival and quality of life.

Focus areas

  • High-grade glioma. Dr. Vora uses advanced medical imaging and proton beam therapy to improve survival in older adult patients with glioblastoma, a common type of high-grade glioma.
  • Lower grade glioma. Dr. Vora serves as part of a consensus panel to provide national recommendations for the best treatment of lower grade gliomas.
  • Endometrial cancer. Dr. Vora studies patient-reported side effects of proton beam versus photon radiation to better understand and minimize treatment impact on well-being.

Significance to patient care

Dr. Vora's work helps improve treatment for brain and gynecologic cancers. He uses proton beam therapy and advanced imaging to deliver accurate treatment, reduce side effects and help patients live longer and better.
