The main research interests of Edward R. Laskowski, M.D., involve the areas of fitness, wellness, injury "protection," conditioning, and strength and stability training. Related projects have included a series of investigations on proprioception of the low back and the effect of stability training after ankle injury.

Focus areas

  • Effects of an incentivized exercise program on resident well-being, including the effects on "burnout"
  • Strength training, including the importance of proper technique
  • Appropriate application of therapeutic exercise
  • Epidemiologic studies of sports/fitness exercise and activity in an attempt to modify injury patterns

Significance to patient care

The goal of all of Dr. Laskowski's research is to translate the findings into practical interventions that an individual can incorporate into his or her sports and fitness lifestyle, as well as ensure the safety and effectiveness of exercise.
