SUMMARY

Sadia A. Khanani, M.D., is passionate about improving the diagnostic and prognostic value of breast imaging. Her research focuses on advanced imaging technologies such as radiomics and machine learning to impact the outcomes of patients with breast cancer, and patients at risk for developing breast cancer. Her hope is that big data, including imaging, clinical, and histopathological data, will provide more personalized strategies for screening and managing women with and without breast cancer.

Focus areas

  • Development of advanced breast imaging technologies, such as deep learning, to enhance the diagnostic accuracy of breast imaging
  • Utilization of multidisciplinary data for creation of models that allow for personalized screening and management of patients at risk for developing breast cancer and patients with breast cancer
  • Implementation of quality improvement strategies to enhance workflow efficiency and decrease waste

Significance to patient care

Dr. Khanani is hopeful her research will contribute to a more personalized approach for breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and surveillance, leading to decreased morbidity and mortality and overall improved outcomes for breast cancer patients.
