The clinical and research interests of Mithri Junna, M.D., span the fields of sleep medicine, epilepsy, neurophysiology and neurology. In collaboration with researchers at Mayo Clinic's Center for Sleep Medicine, she investigates the effectiveness of various sleep-testing tools in evaluating sleep-disordered breathing and studies long-term quality of life outcomes in people undergoing treatment for this condition. Dr. Junna also partners with colleagues from the Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery to assess how the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced clinical practice, with the goal of enhancing patient care experiences.
Research in sleep disorders and epilepsy helps healthcare professionals understand these conditions, how to diagnose them and how to treat them over time. Dr. Junna has played a key role in creating quality measures for diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.
