SUMMARY

Beth A. Cloud-Biebl, Ph.D., P.T., D.P.T., studies the biomechanical assessment of movement strategies used by individuals with spinal cord injury. Dr. Cloud-Biebl also explores topics in health science education.

Focus areas

  • Spinal cord injury. Dr. Cloud-Biebl is interested in how individuals move after spinal cord injury, particularly during tasks that rely on their upper limbs.
  • Upper limb kinematics. Dr. Cloud-Biebl specializes in the use of electromagnetic technology for measuring shoulder motion.
  • Health sciences education. Dr. Cloud-Biebl has an emerging interest in evaluating learning tools and strategies in the context of health sciences education.

Significance to patient care

Dr. Cloud-Biebl uses her knowledge of upper limb movement to guide recovery after spinal cord injury and other conditions that require wheelchair use. For people who use wheelchairs, knowing the best ways to move can lower the risk of upper limb injury and help reduce pain.
