Dr. Bloomfield has an interest in improvement of the quality of critical care patients through information services and better utilization of technology. In particular, Dr. Bloomfield has an interest in Clinical physician order entry and its effects on work flow and reduction of errors in the ICU.

  • Technology Assessment. Dr. Bloomfield has an interest and has written and published about the cost effectiveness of technology applications in the ICU.

Significance to patient care

The goal of Dr. Bloomfield's research is to better improve practice in the ICU and to address the concept of utilization of high expense technology items with the utilization of information systems.
