Overview
The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology research focus includes epidimiology, basic and translational research as well as involvment in clinical trials and studies.
Specifically our division is instramental in the study of pediatric inflammatory arthritis, assessing medical outcomes, use of imaging to predict outcome and epidemiology studies of long term outcomes. Further we have one the largest and program in the study of pediatric inflammatory muscle disease. These studies include basic scientific mechanisms , dendritic cell infiltration and the formation of lymphoid follicles, the presence of maternal chimeric cells, T cell receptor skewing and genetics of disease. More recently the division has established and engaged in research using genomic and cytokine measures to immunologically fingerprint paitents to determine outcome and disease course. This individualized medicine approach is also involving outcome measured regarding disease onset, markers for disease and questionaires.
