Research Temporary Professional Section

The Research Temporary Professional Section provides postdoctoral training in healthcare delivery research. Training lasts 2 to 3 years and prepares trainees for career opportunities in academia, industry, government and nonprofit organizations.

Research temporary professional scientists work as part of multidisciplinary teams of clinicians and scientists. They work on practice-transforming investigations that accelerate Mayo Clinic as a learning health system.

This team-based research and education program pools expertise from diverse disciplines and facilitates mutual learning. It also develops collaboration, leadership and management skills for future leaders in healthcare delivery research.

Trainees are exposed to the values and culture of Mayo Clinic and benefit from the centralized infrastructures of the Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery and the Division of Health Care Delivery Research. Each trainee's project portfolio is examined to ensure the research topics or conditions, and the included populations, will lead to new knowledge that addresses patient needs and Mayo Clinic's practice priorities.

This section aims to be a learning organization that ensures continuous improvement in the training's quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
