About this study

You are being asked to take part in this research study because you are scheduled to have total hip replacement (arthroplasty) surgery. The goal of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the drug, epsilon Aminocaproic Acid (EACA), in decreasing the need for patients to receive blood after surgery. Currently, EACA is approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to treat a patient who is bleeding. The investigators plan to use EACA to prevent bleeding during and after surgery; use of this drug as a means of preventing bleeding is not currently approved by the FDA.

About this study

While the potential clinical uses of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) are extensive, we are focusing on the potential benefits of PEMF on vascular health. We are targeting, the pre diabetic - metabolic syndrome population, a group with high prevalence in the American population. This population tends to be overweight, low fitness, high blood pressure, high triglycerides and borderline high blood glucose.

About this study

The objective of the treatment program described here is to make benznidazole available in the United States on a compassionate-use basis for treatment of T. cruzi infection—specifically, for patients who have acute or congenital infection, reactivated infection, or chronic infection (without advanced cardiac disease)—and for prophylaxis of infection, when indicated in the setting of proven exposure. Benznidazole will be provided for individual patients who meet the eligibility criteria, on request of the treating physician, after consultation with CDC staff.

During the early phases (phases 1 and 2), researchers assess safety, side effects, optimal dosages and risks/benefits. In the later phase (phase 3), researchers study whether the treatment works better than the current standard therapy. They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

This phase I/II trial studies the best dose and side effects of ibrutinib when given together with lenalidomide and dexamethasone and how well they work in treating patients with multiple myeloma that are not eligible for transplant. Ibrutinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as lenalidomide and dexamethasone, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving ibrutinib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone may work better in treating patients with multiple myeloma.

About this study

This is a Phase 2, multicenter, open-label, 2-part, single-arm, 2-stage study of tazemetostat 800 mg two times a day (BID) administered orally. Screening of subjects to determine eligibility for the study will be performed within 21 days of the first planned dose of tazemetostat. In Part 1, 12 subjects with relapsed or refractory malignant mesothelioma regardless of BAP1 status will be treated and undergo pharmacokinetics (PK) blood sample collection after a single tazemetostat 800 mg. Part 2 will include subjects with BAP1-deficient relapsed or refractory malignant mesothelioma. Treatment with tazemetostat will continue until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity or withdrawal of consent, or termination of the study. Response assessment will be evaluated after 6 weeks of treatment and then every 12 weeks thereafter while on study.
