Rituximab Vasculitis Maintenance Study

They also compare the safety of the new treatment with that of current treatments. Phase 3 trials include large numbers of people to make sure that the result is valid. There are also less common very early (phase 0) and later (phase 4) phases. Phase 0 trials are small trials that help researchers decide if a new agent should be tested in a phase 1 trial. Phase 4 trials look at long-term safety and effectiveness, after a new treatment has been approved and is on the market.

About this study

Rituximab is now established as an effective drug for anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) vasculitis following major European and US trials reported in 2010. After a time, its effect wears off and the disease can return. This occurs in at least half of patients within 2 years of receiving Rituximab. A preliminary study in Cambridge has suggested that repeating rituximab every six months stops the disease returning and is safe. The RITAZAREM trial will find out whether repeating rituximab stops vasculitis returning and whether it works better than the older treatments, azathioprine or methotrexate. It will also tell us how long patients remain well after the repeated rituximab treatments are stopped, and if repeated rituximab is safe. We should also learn useful information about the effects of rituximab on quality of life and economic measures. The trial results will help decide the best treatment for future patients who have their vasculitis initially treated with rituximab. RITAZAREM aims to recruit patients with established ANCA vasculitis whose disease has come back 'relapsing vasculitis'. All patients will be treated with rituximab and steroids and we anticipate that most will respond well. If their disease is under reasonable control after four months, further treatment with either rituximab (a single dose ever four months for two years) or azathioprine tablets will be chosen randomly. The patients in the rituximab and azathioprine groups will then be compared. Patients will be in the trial for four years. The study has been designed by members of the European Vasculitis Study group (EUVAS) and the Vasculitis Clinical Research Consortium (VCRC). It will include 190 participants from 30 hospitals in Europe, the USA, Australia and Mexico. RITAZAREM is being funded by Arthritis Research UK, the U.S. National Institutes of Health and by Roche/Genentech.

About this study

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of LIQ861, a dry powder formulation of treprostinil, in patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). A secondary objective of this study is to evaluate the comparative bioavailability of treprostinil between two formulations of inhaled therapy.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well tucatinib works for solid tumors that make either more HER2 or a different type of HER2 than usual (HER2 alterations) The solid tumors studied in this trial have either spread to other parts of the body (metastatic) or cannot be removed completely with surgery (unresectable). All participants will get both tucatinib and trastuzumab. People with hormone-receptor positive breast cancer will also get a drug called fulvestrant. The trial will also look at what side effects happen. A side effect is anything a drug does besides treating cancer.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the probable benefit and safety of the LIPOSORBER® LA-15 System for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome associated with primary focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, when the standard treatment options, including corticosteroid and/or calcineurin inhibitors treatments, have been unsuccessful or not well tolerated, and the patient has a GFR ≥ 45 ml/min/1.73m2, or the patient is post renal transplantation. Treatment for FSGS is considered unsuccessful if the patient is unresponsive to standard therapy (e.g., at least 8 weeks of corticosteroids) and fails to achieve complete or partial remission. A standard treatment is considered not well tolerated if the patient experiences severe side effects without providing an acceptable level of clinical benefit.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to obtain lung fibroblasts (a cell type that participates in fibrosis of the lung) to study then in the laboratory to identify why they are different from fibroblast from normal individuals.

Once these cells are obtained, they will be grown in culture plates in the laboratory to be developed into many different cell types. These cells will be evaluated for their function in the laboratory, and to determine if they can continue to grow/function. Any cells that are left will be frozen for use in future experiments.

The purpose of this study is to validate the effectiveness of the ZephyrLife Home monitoring device compared with standard ICU or stepdown vital signs monitoring, especially for heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature as systemic (whole body) inflammatory response syndrome or sepsis ( whole body infection) markers in stem cell transplant patients.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether adding stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) to immunotherapy as part of second line treatment for mesothelioma will improve the modest response rate of immunotherapy alone, provide local control/cytoreduction to sites of gross disease, and decrease symptomatic burden while improving outcomes.

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the 4-month Progression-Free Survival (PFS), with demonstrated increase in tumor doubling time, of eligible subjects treated with pazopanib according to RECIST version 1.1 guidelines.
