Acupressure For Anxiety: A Randomized Controlled Trial Of An Acupressure Intervention For Patients Receiving Cancer-directed Therapy
Rochester, MN
The purpsoe of this stduy is to compare anxiety scores before and after a nurse-led acupressure intervention; we hypothesize that true acupressure will significantly decrease anxiety scores, as compared with sham acupressure. Then, we will teach patients to self-administer true vs sham acupressure to test the efficacy of self-administered acupressure for anxiety. We will also investigate whether true vs sham acupressure alleviates nausea. The ultimate goal of this research is to mitigate acute anxiety experienced by patients with cancer, using well-tolerated and widely generalizable interventions.

Endocrine Therapy-Induced Alopecia Natural History Evaluation Among Female Breast Cancer Survivors
Albert Lea, MN
Mankato, MN
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to learn about potential side effects facing people who are undergoing treatments for their cancer, specifically, hair loss. While this is not a well-documented side effect of hormone-blocking medications (such as tamoxifen, letrozole, anastrozole, or exemestane), we have preliminary evidence that it is a problem for some patients getting this treatment. This study will include some patients receiving the hormone therapy and some patients who are not, so we can better understand whether patients getting the hormonal therapy have more hair loss than patients who are not getting such.

Exploring Patient Perspectives: Comfort Levels In Responding To Sexual Orientation And Gender Identity Questions In Cancer Care Settings.
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to explore patients' comfort levels in disclosing sexual orientation and gender identity (SO/GI) in cancer care settings, aiming to assess current question formats, identify barriers, propose solutions, and develop a standardized questionnaire for clinical trial settings. Hypothesizing that patients, regardless of LGBTQ+ status, may exhibit diverse perspectives on SO/GI questions, the research aims to offer insights for more inclusive healthcare practices. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, the study aims help addressing healthcare disparities among sexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals and provide a standardized approach for SO/GI data collection that is crucial for tailored interventions in clinical trials.
