ROF2181: Prospective Comparative Effectiveness Trial Of Carbon Ion Therapy, Surgery, And Proton Therapy For The Management Of Pelvic Sarcomas (Soft Tissue/bone) Involving The Bone (The PROSPER Study)

Currently, only a few international institutions use CIRT to treat pelvic bone sarcomas. Accordingly, data evaluating the potential differences in oncological outcomes, toxicities, and functional outcomes between CIRT and the more readily accessible local therapies of surgery and PT is scarce. For this reason, we propose conducting a prospective comparative effectiveness study evaluating functional outcomes, toxicities, and local control in patients with pelvic bone sarcomas treated with surgery, PT, and CIRT.

A Phase III Trial Evaluating The Addition Of Trastuzumab To Trimodality Treatment Of Her2-Overexpressing Esophageal Adenocarcinoma

This randomized phase III trial studies how well radiation therapy, paclitaxel, and carboplatin with or without trastuzumab work in treating patients with esophageal cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as trastuzumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. It is not yet known whether giving radiation therapy and combination chemotherapy together with or without trastuzumab is more effective in treating esophageal cancer.

A Phase III Trial of Post-Surgical Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) Compared with Whole Brain Radiotherapy (WBRT) for Resected Metastatic Brain Disease

RATIONALE: Stereotactic radiosurgery may be able to send x-rays directly to the tumor and cause less damage to normal tissue. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x rays to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether stereotactic radiosurgery is more effective than whole-brain radiation therapy in treating patients with brain metastases that have been removed by surgery.
PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial studies how well stereotactic radiosurgery works compared to whole-brain radiation therapy in treating patients with brain metastases that have been removed by surgery.
