• Effect of Treatment on Activity and Muscle Function in Pediatric Patients with Scoliosis (SAMUS SCOLI) (SAMUS SCOLI) Rochester, Minn.

  This study will explore the relationship between skeletal muscle and physical activity in scoliosis patients to provide insight into both the etiology of scoliosis and possible ways to mitigate the potential harm of treatment.

• Identification of Genetic Risk Factors and Disease Modifers in Idiopathic Scoliosis Rochester, Minn.

  The purpose of this study is to gather samples for identifying genetic factors that make children susceptible to ideopathic scoliosis and influence disease progression. 

• Noninvasive Hemoglobin Monitoring in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Orthopedic Surgery Rochester, Minn.

  The purposes of this study are to validate noninvasive hemoglobin monitoring in postoperative orthopedic pediatric patients, to evaluate patient, parent, and provider preference of noninvasive hemoglobin monitoring compared to invasive blood draw, and to evaluate cost effectiveness of noninvasive monitoring in comparison to invasive blood draws.

• Utilizing Bone Ultrasound to Assess Fracture Healing Rochester, Minn.

  The purpose of this study is to compare the use of ultrasound to traditional xrays to evaluate fracture healing over time in patients with radius/ulna (arm) fractures.
