Studies On The Health Benefits Of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy Using Bioboosti
Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ
The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of treatment from a device called the Bioboosti which utilizes pulsed electromagnetic waves on blood vessel function and blood pressure.

Epigenetics and the Origin of Muscle Insulin Resistance in Humans
Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ
The investigators are trying to understand the role of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) methylation in insulin resistance in skeletal muscle and blood tissues. DNA methylation is a normal chemical process in the body that modifies DNA. By studying this, the investigators hope to better understand the causes of insulin resistance.

Targeting Pathways in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Using Metformin (MET)
Rochester, MN
The investigator's global hypothesis is that women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) can be separated into subtypes based on their response to metformin. The investigators propose here to use both targeted and non-targeted metabolomic approach to identify pathways associated with metformin's effect on insulin sensitivity and endothelial function. This pilot project will be the foundation for developing tailored therapeutic approaches to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and identifying novel drug targets.

A Study To Evaluate The Use Of MANP In Patients With Hypertension And Metabolic Syndrome
Rochester, MN
This study is being done to see how a subcutaneous (SQ or subcu) injection of a new natriuretic peptide, or hormone, called MANP affects your blood pressure, the glucose and lipids levels and other peptide (hormone) levels in your blood.

Clomiphene Citrate Fast-Track Protocol for Fertility Treatment in Women With PCOS
Rochester, MN
Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have traditionally been treated for infertility by using progestin for a withdrawal bleed (aka endometrial shedding) before clomiphene citrate (CC) is administered to induce ovulation.
Recent evidence suggests that this approach (the traditional CC protocol) may be associated with decreased pregnancy and live birth rates, compared to the "fast track" CC protocol (in which no progestin is used).
The investigators are performing the first randomized controlled trial to find out if skipping the use of progestin (fast track CC protocol) during fertility therapy of anovulatory PCOS women leads to improved pregnancy and live birth rates compared ...

Waist Circumference Measurement and Weight Changes Over Time for Assessment of Metabolic Syndrome in Overweight and Obese Children in an Outpatient Clinic Setting
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to increase the measurement of BMI and WC in the overweight (BMI at or greater than the 85th percentile) and obese (BMI at or greater than 95th percentile) outpatient pediatric population ages 6-19 at Mayo Clinic Rochester and surrounding satellite clinics. Educate providers and nursing staff on the importance and technique of measuring the WC in the overweight and obese outpatient pediatric population with at least a yearly WC on every child with a BMI at or greater than the 85th percentile. Determine the prevalence of various components of the metabolic syndrome (MS) including ...

A Study to Evaluate Blood Chemistry, Genetics, and Eye Exams in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and/or Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension
Rochester, MN
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the blood chemistry, genetics, and eye exams in women with polycystic ovary syndrome and/or intracranial hypertension. Similar studies are being completed with astronauts. The results may help us better understand the nature, and ultimately the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome, intracranial hypertension, and astronaut eye and vision issues.
