Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
1) Aged 12-17 years at the time of enrollment
2) Receiving initial RT for cancer treatment with curative intent at the Mayo Clinic Arizona
3) Able to provide assent
4) Able to read and write in English
5) Have access to an electronic device with videoconferencing capability.
Exclusion criteria:
1) Less than three-month prognosis
2) Past history of RT
3) Self-reported visual, hearing, or cognitive impairment impeding the ability to complete the STRUM intervention
4) Prior receipt of ukulele or guitar lessons
5) Actively receiving musical instrument lessons.
