A Study Of EchoAtlas: Prospective Deployment Of An Echocardiography Vision-Language Model

About this study

The purpose of this study is to conduct Agentic Clinical Interface Development, Physician-Grounded RL Optimization, Mayo Clinic Cloud/Mayo Clinic Platform Integration, and Prospective Shadow Deployment.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Physician participants (Aim 1): attending echocardiologists who agree to participate in structured case review sessions.

  • Shadow deployment cohort (Aim 2 Phase 2): all adult patients (≥18 years) undergoing clinically indicated echocardiography at Mayo Clinic Rochester during the prospective shadow deployment period (approximately months 13–18 of the study).


Exclusion Criteria:

  • Physician participants who decline to complete the minimum required case review sessions will be excluded from RL training analysis.

  • Patient records: patients who have opted out of research use of their medical records in the Mayo Clinic electronic health system. No additional disease-specific exclusion criteria apply for the shadow deployment cohort.
