A Study Of AI-Assisted Avatar Training For Complex Clinical Interview Skills In First-Year Medical Students

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine whether completing an AI avatar practice session before a live standardized patient encounter improves rubric-assessed performance compared to completing the avatar session after the encounter (Kirkpatrick Level 2: objective skill assessment).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All M1 students beginning the program in July of the 2026 academic year.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Students who withdraw from the clinical skills course prior to the first standardized patient encounter.
