A Study Of Prazosin On Human Pyloric Contractility And Tone

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of intra-duodenal 0.1N HCl on distal antral motility and pyloric phasic and tonic pressure activity in healthy human participants.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults (18-75 years) who have BMI >18 kg/m2

  • Able to reside within 50 miles of Mayo Clinic for the duration of the study

  • Not currently on treatment (exceptions below) for cardiac, pulmonary, GI, hepatic, renal, hematological, neurological, or endocrine disorders

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Abdominal surgery (EXCEPTappendectomy, Caesarian section, tubal ligation, cholecystectomy)
