A Study Of Orthopedic Injury Management

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine patient preferences regarding the management of their orthopedic injury and patient factors associated with the variation in priorities.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patient inclusion criteria:  specific orthopedic injury (i.e. acetabular fractures, pilon fractures, diabetic foot wounds, etc.), adults >18years, patient at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, FL

  • Provider inclusion criteria:  specific provider for the associated injury (i.e. acetabular fracture – orthopedic trauma/hip surgeons, pilon fractures – orthopedic trauma/foot/ankle surgeons, chronic lower extremity wounds – orthopedic trauma/foot/ankle surgeon, vascular surgeon, wound care provider, etc), adults >18years.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Unable to consent (Cognitively impaired or Individuals with Impaired Decision-Making Capacity, non-English speaking)

  • Prisoners
