A Study Of Cellular Senescence In Endometriosis

About this study

The purpose of this study is to define how senescent cells (SCs) influence lesion fibrosis and correlate with clinical features.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • You are 18 years or older and pre-menopausal

  • You were referred to for surgical procedure for suspected endometriosis (cases) or for elective sterilization (tubal ligation/salpingectomy) for controls

  • You are currently menstruating

  • You own a smartphone, have an email address, and can read electronic instructions

  • You are willing to sign the consent form (electronically) using the QVIN application

Exclusion Criteria:

  • You are less than 18 years of age

  • You are pregnant or nursing

  • You are post-menopausal

  • Previous hysterectomy and/or bilateral oophorectomy

  • Prior diagnosis or surgical procedure for endometriosis

  • You are unwilling or unable to wear at least two Q-Pads and mail them back

  • You are unwilling or unable to donate blood before and after surgery

  • You are unwilling or unable to consent using the QVIN application

  • Currently taking or have taken antibiotics in the past 4 weeks

  • You are undergoing hysterectomy or laparoscopic procedure for suspected malignancy

  • Previously diagnosed with an autoimmune or inflammatory disease
