A Study Of Retinal Imaging For Psychiatric Disorders

About this study

The purpose of this study is to further develop and improve the performance of this AI-OCT model in schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SZ).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Ability to provide informed consent. Outpatients with guardians will be allowed to participate as long as both patient and guardian agree to participation and understand potential risks associated with study participation.

  • 18-70 years of age

  • Patients with SZ are defined as any schizophrenia spectrum disorder as defined by the DSM5 TR.

  • Psychiatric controls are defined as patients with any lifetime non-psychotic mood disorder; patients with cannabis and/or amphetamine use disorder without personal history of psychosis; or first degree relative of SZ patient without any personal history of psychosis.

 

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Anyone 17 years old or younger; or anyone >71 years old.

  • Anyone with laser or other ophthalmologic procedures that disrupts integrity of retina.

  • Anyone with retinal detachment, trauma to retina, or other disorders that may disrupt gross anatomy of retina.

  • Anyone with history of vitreous bleeding or other non-retinal disorders that may interfere with obtaining quality OCT image.

  • Anyone with previously diagnosed Alzheimer’s Disase or Vascular Neurocognitive Disorder or Parkinson’s Disease
