A Study Of Cardiac Natural History In Friedreich Ataxia

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to better characterize the cardiac phenotype in FA by collecting cardiac and other relevant data. This data will be analyzed to better describe the natural history of cardiac disease in FA and to identify predictors of adverse cardiac outcomes in FA.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Molecular Diagnosis of Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA)

  • Longitudinal cardiac data available for analysis. In the majority of cases, this requires at least 2 cardiac evaluations separated by a span of at least 5 years. Subjects who are deceased but have cardiac data available that precedes their death may also be enrolled.  Subjects with less than 5 years of longitudinal data may also be enrolled if they consent for prospective data collection.

Exclusion Criteria:
