A Study Of Patient Preferences For Healthcare Technology For Decompensated Cirrhosis Management

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess patient preferences regarding healthcare technology for decompensated cirrhosis management.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:         

  • Confirmed diagnosis of cirrhosis per chart review:

    • Based on liver biopsy, imaging, or evidence of clinical decompensation. Clinical decompensation is defined as the presence of ascites, varices (including non-bleeding varices), or hepatic encephalopathy

    • Validated ICD code for identifying decompensated cirrhosis, per data system (MDE, i2b2, Slicer Dicer)

  • Valid email in Epic

  • Age 18 or older

 

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Inability to read or understand English at a fluent level, as determined by charted need for a translator

  • Developmentally delayed or dementia, as determined by chart review
