Additional Delayed-Phase Scan With PCD-CT To Improve Radiologist Confidence For The Presence Of Peritoneal Disease

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if an additional delayed-phase scan with PCD-CT will improve radiologist confidence for the presence of peritoneal disease in key anatomic locations, compared to a portal phase contrast-enhanced scan.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:  

  • Adult patients 18 to 80 years of age.
  • Patients who are able and willing to sign the informed consent.
  • Presurgical patients with newly diagnosed gastric or ovarian cancer for whom a contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic CT has been ordered for clinical reasons.
  • Negative pregnancy test if the subject is in a childbearing age (unit study coordinator will coordinate an urine pregnancy test at no cost to the patient).

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Patients with an age of less than 18 years old.
  • Patients that are unable to provide a written informed consent.
  • Patients who are pregnant.
  • Patients whose eGFR ≥ 30 (13,14).
  • Allergy or previous intravenous contrast reaction.
  • Patients with known primary mucinous or cystic neoplasms or inflammatory disease of the peritoneum (granulomatous peritonitis).
  • Patients unable to undergo surgery.
