A Study Of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) In Rome IV Functional Dyspepsia (FD)

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the prevalence of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) in patients with Rome IV Functional Dyspepsia (FD).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Diagnosis of functional dyspepsia based on Rome IV criteria. 18 years and older.

  • Non-diagnostic upper endoscopy, upper radiographic GI series, and/or gastric emptying study to rule out structural/organic causes for FD.

  • Ability to speak and read in English.

Exclusion Criteria:  

  • Subjects under the age of 18 years old

  • No diagnosis of Rome IV criteria functional dyspepsia

  • Inability to perform phone interviews.

  • Use of narcotic analgesics

  • Inability to provide informed consent.

  • Current pregnancy

  • Intellectual disability by history
