Impact Of Patient Education On Alcohol Use As A Risk Factor For Breast Cancer

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of brief educational video-based intervention about alcohol use and the risk of breast cancer on (1) beliefs about alcohol use as an important factor for breast cancer risk (2) self-reported intentions to reduce alcohol over the next month; and (3) self-reported alcohol consumption 3-months post-intervention.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Female patients ≥ 18 years of age
  • Seen by Mayo Clinic breast physicians and APPs within the last month.
  • Reporting alcohol consumption of at least 3 drinks per week.
  • English speaking.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Males.
  • Females < 18 years of age.
  • Self-reported alcohol consumption of 2 or fewer drinks per week.
  • Current diagnosis of breast cancer.
  • Non-English speaking.
