A Study Of Ultrasound Probe Force Thresholds During Transthoracic Echocardiography

About this study

The purpose of this study is to measure and describe ultrasound probe force and torque used during routine transthoracic echocardiography and identify ranges associated with patient comfort and adequate image quality, providing reference data for future robotic and AI-assisted echocardiography systems.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 18–80

  • Undergoing clinically indicated TTE

  • Able to provide informed consent

 

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Inability to consent

  • Unable to follow instructions

  • Hemodynamically unstable

  • Chest wall wounds, recent cardiac or thoracic surgery within past 6 months, or significant chest wall pain at baseline
