A Study Of Hearing Outcomes After GKRS For Sporadic VS

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the rate of maintaining serviceable hearing (SH) after GKRS for patients with sporadic VS. To determine the rate of pure tone average (PTA) and word recognition score (WRS) decline after GKRS. To identify patient characteristics associated with loss of SH after GKRS.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All adult patients with SH (AAO-HNS hearing class A or B) who underwent primary GKRS (low dose therapy, <15 Gray) for sporadic VS from 2000 through 2019 at Mayo Clinic Rochester will be approached to participate. As noted above, a query of an existing clinical database has identified 328 patients who are eligible.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients under the age of 18 years, those with NF2-associated VS, those who are unable to participate in audiologic testing, patients who received treatment doses of 15 Gray or higher, those with class C or D hearing before treatment, and patients who decline study participation will be excluded.

Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.
