A Study Of Spiritually Integrated Treatment For Moral Injury And Moral Distress In Military Healthcare Providers

About this study

The purpose of this study is to test the Health and Strengths (HAS) intervention using a crossover design trial that compares the HAS intervention to a waitlist control group in a military nursing personnel sample.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All active-duty Air Force (USAF), Army (USA), and Navy (USN) nursing military healthcare personnel (mHCP), and compo 2 (National Guard) and compo 3 (Reserve) nursing, including, medics, hospital corpsman, licensed practical nurses, and practical nurses (4N0)

  • Experienced potentially morally injurious or spiritually distressing events

  • Over age 18

  • Positive scores for MI and MD, using the Moral Injury Outcomes Scale (MIOS) and Measure of Moral Distress for Healthcare Providers - Military (MMDHP)-M

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Participants with ‘zero’ for MD and MI
