Dynamic Evaluation Of Spinal Alignment And Balance In Adults With Spinal Deformity Using Momentum Spine

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the Momentum Spine™ application, with its newly developed dynamic spinal metrics, can accurately and feasibly assess postural parameters in adults with spinal deformity across the continuum of care: conservative management, before and after spinal surgery.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults aged 18 years and older with a diagnosis of:

    • Adult spine deformity (degenerative ≥10° Cobb, adult idiopathic scoliosis, kyphosis, etc.), or

    • Cervical myelopathy (radiographic and/or clinical evidence of cervical spinal cord compression), or

    • Spine tumors (primary or metastatic lesions affecting the spinal column or neural elements) requiring ongoing monitoring, conservative treatment, or surgical evaluation.

    • Participants should be able to stand and ambulate with or without assistive devices.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients who are unable to stand or walk (for instance, those permanently wheelchair-dependent without the capacity for short walking tests) will be excluded, as will individuals with severe comorbidities that would make participation unsafe. Pregnant individuals will be excluded if the investigator deems pregnancy could significantly alter posture and gait measures. Patients who do not possess or have access to a compatible smartphone or device (or are unwilling to use one provided by the study) will be excluded. Additionally, those who cannot provide informed consent due to cognitive impairment or language barriers beyond available resources will not be eligible.

Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.

Eligibility last updated 01/14/2026. Questions regarding updates should be directed to the study team contact.
